Thermometers

A thermometer approved for medical use is essential when taking a person’s temperature. The difference between normal body temperature and a fever is very small and medical thermometers typically have a very small measuring range as a result, approximately 35°C to 45°C, in order to return a reliable and accurate reading.

Medical thermometers are specifically calibrated to take body temperature but some have a ‘dual mode’ enabling temperature measurements to be taken of ordinary objects over a much greater temperature range.
